How come???

If a recipe says to add 2 cloves of garlic, I will add one and be overwhelmed by it. I love garlic but since I have been using a garlic press, it seems to overwhelm the place. This has been over the last six months so not like it is anything new.

My house is smelly right now....

life goal

CP from Xanga....

I managed to check a life goal off my list this week. I made a thai soup called tom yum (whatever meat you want). I got it perfect earlier this week with tom yum goong (shrimp). Tonight I made tom yum no-meat-but-with-some-rice-noodles. It was wonderful and I totally love this spicy soup. It includes a trip to the asian market for lemon grass and ginger root. They didn't have keffir leaves which I think makes this soup. After speaking with my local Thai waitress she said they grow it in their backyard. They don't buy it. Anyone know a source for keffir plantJ & I have promised each other that when one of us is sick the other will get this soup for the other.

Earlier this summer I worked on bruschettas. We perfected one for us that is a fantastic blend of green olives, tomato, garlic and cilantro. The cilantro gives it a great taste but J has the best foundation for it: Slices of good bread sliced thin and toasted on the grill. Then he takes a clove of garlic and rubs across the toasted bread. Then the bruschetta goes on. Really tasty....

Another dish on my list is hummus. I can't find tahini that goes in it anywhere though I haven't hit the whole food type grocery stores.

Klash in the Kitchen

We may just not be able to make it through this one....Scenario - 6:09 with guests due at 7pm to eat. Menu devised by the man: Chili and fritos...Cool, right? with bruschetta and guacamole and noodle dish and greek salad. His deal, not my issue. So back to now 6:11. Turkey has JUST now been put in pan for chili. He has spent the last 30 minutes making guaco. I made the bruschetta. Weird freakin unbalanced strangeness menu. My mind is reeling. Just too much flavor clashing. It feels like a garage sale!!!! Get the meat cooking for the chili then start the guac!!! He brought me stella though. But i have to stay out of the kitchen and detach...detach....detach... I should be happy that a man is cooking for me but my sense of balance is reeling.

I'm soothed....

I was pretty upset about a few things this afternoon... So I went shopping. Comfort food sort of. I really love making ethnic food at home. Not that I am an expert but I truly enjoy being able to recreate. Tonight was a big kick ass Yeah!!! in my mouth. Hungry for Gyros-Greekie things, I marinated chicken in balsamic vinegar and oregano while I made my own tziziki sauce. I have shied away from this before but tonight was a new high. It was heaven. OK, maybe not the top heaven but damn close. I also made a greek salad as a side with the chicken in whole wheat pitas as a main. Not crazy about whole-wheat pitas but since they were fresh, they were still delish. Sooo??? what to top this off with??? Mexican flan. Ohhhh yum. Everything turned out well. I still have issues that I have to deal with but my tummy is full, the kitchen is a mess and I am about to get John to start a fire in the fireplace.

weird meme

Usually don't do these things, but this one seemed interesting...

RULES: Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 5 people to be tagged and list their names.

1) I taught all three of my kids to read.
2) I wear socks at night to bed.
3) I HATE the word nipple!!!
4) I have never bought a lotto ticket.
5) I have never dated a guy with 'normal' hair. It was either very very long or shaved. Weird!
6) I am freaky scared of clowns and their abodes!!!
7) I am also freakishly afraid that someone will walk on in me in the restroom.
8) I was 39 before I saw my first porn and it was at a halloween party with a whole bunch of folks.
9) It was at above Halloween party that I first met SCA folk.
10) I have three colors of plastic glasses in the cupboard. I emptied the dishwasher and purposly stacked the colors together misc. I will have to go back and fix them and sort into stacks of like color before I will be able to sleep tonight. Sigh.

... and for the re-tagging, I choose:
- lady_eliz
- lil_lamb
- count gunthar
- divine ambrosia
- everything girl

Today
I got a call from my mom at 2:55am saying come quick. I grabbed the quickest shower of my life (A very warm fighter practice last night and I just fell into bed instead of showering last night) and flew to the hospital arriving at 3:33am. I walked through the doors to see my G-father take his very last breath and then nothing. 91 years of a life done.

I'll be damned but it's coed. *Blink, Blink* One year ago he was living with me, being a bit of a bum, and still a kid with house rules to follow. But, in trying to have open eyes, Oh How I Love That Man of Mine!!!! Ingve takes such good care of me and my heart. I am safe, content, ecstatic, etc etc. GOOD CONTRAST!!! What could that strange feeling be??? Happiness? Yesssssss (said in proper Napoleon Dynamite style)!!!!

So, Springfaire...most of my fave people will be there and the weather looks spectacular. KT had cancelled the recording. Grrrrr. Also Came home to KT in tears: Damn rabbit that she has is a bad mom and won't nurse the babies so this morning three of the four babies are dead (about a week old). I am not supposed to have weapons on campus but F them all!

LOVED this Saturday at Glaslyn. Loved Ingve. Loved how the weather (wind) cleared up and the sun came out. Loved my friends. Loved my beer. Loved the horseradish cheddar. Loved Jenna and Kat for the beer run. Loved the naughty jokes. Loved fighting new people. Loved making new friends. Loved Ingve driving us home while I slept all content and drunk like. Loved snuggling with Ingve that night. HATED the way we woke up. Phone rings at 6:30 am: His apt is drowning, pipes broke, come home and deal with it NOW. Nothing is lone-lier than pre-mature loss of snuggling.
Had a great weekend!!! Started Happy Hour at 4pm on Friday afternoon and drove into my driveway at 4am! And a good time was had by all. The whole weekend was good (***smooch*** to "The Man" , You know who you are!" . Went out with friends on Friday, another set on saturday evening and then spent Sunday with Starbucks in bed to start, a fight on the lawn, late lunch at LaMadeline's, a nap (for me), shopping at Central Market, home-made from scratch chicken alfredo, Kingdom of Heaven, my guitar re-strung and a few rounds of music before heading back to McKinney.

KT scored a 1 at contest on her solo. Since it was a class one piece, she will be awarded her letter jacket with this also. That is really cool and an accomplishment that most freshmen don't get. Woot! At her school, ya have to be in the top band, march and get a 1 on a class one peice to get your letter jacket.

Anyhoo! I am missing some of my friends very badly.
